FAQ’s

Ordering:

When you press the order button, you will be redirected to PAYPAL where you can use a credit card with or without a PAYPAL account.  Once you are done with PAYPAL you will be redirected back.  The entire process has a very high level of security as offered by one of the largest online payment processors in the world, PAYPAL.

If you don’t want to use PAYPAL, but still want to pay by VISA,  Mastercard, or Check, you can call me with your credit-card information  at 888-679-1840. In this case, select the ‘Payment at our Shop’ option at checkout.  If you are paying by personal check, it will take an extra 5-10 business days for the check to clear.

If you need more pieces than what’s listed or if you want a wood that you don’t see, please  contact me.

Keep in mind that every piece of wood has different grain and/or color so if you need pictures of the piece you will receive before ordering, then let me know.  Please be reasonable as it will take considerable time to take pictures of my entire inventory, especially with boxes like the Cricket, which I usually make in batches of 100.

Warranty/Guarantee/Returns:

All of my work has a guaranteed satisfaction of 15 days from the time you receive the item(s).   You may receive a new piece or get a full refund less shipping.
I also carry a 5 year warranty against workmanship defects.  This does not include misuse, abuse, or wood warping.  No one can repair my work better than me so it’s always a good idea to contact me with whatever problem the box may be having.

Shipping:

Shipping is a flat rate of $8.50 per order regular ground in the continental US.   Shipping is currently FREE for orders above $100 (regular ground).  Please contact me for pricing of orders outside the continental US and for expedited  orders.  I use either FEDEX or USPS, depending on the size of the order.

Most items ship within 24 hours.  If there are any delays, you will be notified within 24 hours.

Wholesale:

I require a resale tax ID, federal tax ID, and proof of a retail establishment.   My minimum order is $500.  First orders are shipped pro forma (credit card) and subsequent orders are shipped NET30 with credit references.  Please contact me for pricing and availability.

Custom Work:

I typically will  take on custom box orders if I have the time available for it. Keep in mind that custom boxes, due to the great amount of time it takes to design new jigs, CAD drawings etc,  will often cost more than a stock box that you see on this site.   I accept requests for different wood types and wood combinations not listed on this site.  Prices will vary depending on wood type.

Personalized Boxes:

If the box is a special order I can v-carve any message you like right into the wood, usually under a lid or on the bottom.   The carving only apply’s to boxes that haven’t been made yet.  For the boxes you see on this site, I can engrave a brass plate and glue or double stick tape the plate in an appropriate place.  The cost of the v-carve/engraving is typically $25-$50.  Boxes which have been v-carved cannot be returned and boxes with the brass plate can be returned with my normal return policy less the cost of the brass plate.

Corporate Gifts:

I’ve done many corporate gift contracts, so please contact me with your needs.

The Materials Used:

The woods used in my jewelry boxes are of the highest quality and come from various regions around the world. Woods used from Mexico are Cocobolo, Zircote, Granadillo,Chechen; from Central America are Canarywood, Redheart, Plantation Lacewood, Rosewood; from North america I use  figured woods including Maple, Walnut, Myrtle, Cherry, Mesquite, Ironwood (for inlays); and from Africa I use Bubinga and Wenge. This is a current list and it fluctuates with availability of quality wood and cost.  This site has pictures and descriptions of many of the woods I use or have used.

I also used brass, shell (including but not limited to: mother-of-pearl, green abalone, and New Zealand Paua), epoxy mixed with wood dust, and crushed stone as inlay materials.

Most of the hardware I used is brass for the hinges and rare-earth magnets for the secret compartments.
